Advanced Neuromodulation Research Laboratory

Dr. Doshi’s Advanced Neuromodulation Research Laboratory is a multi-disciplinary group of like-minded doctors, neuroscientists, and engineers headed by Prof. (Dr.) Paresh Doshi, Director of Neurosurgery, Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery, and Restorative and Regenerative Medicine at Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre, Mumbai, India. Our research focuses on optimizing patient care in neurology and psychiatry by developing innovative approaches to therapeutic neuromodulation.

Our research is spread across three parallel objectives:

i. to advance the clinical practice of deep brain stimulation for movement disorders, pain, and psychiatric illnesses;

ii. to develop and validate new treatment protocols of non-invasive neuromodulation for neuropsychiatric illness, and

iii. to integrate computational techniques such as AI/ML into diagnostic neuropsychiatry and therapeutic neuromodulation.

Our Mission

Our overarching goal is to advance therapeutic neuromodulation in the fields of neurology and psychiatry.

Techniques

Advanced Neuroimaging - Diffusion Weighted Imaging (DWI) and Resting State Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (rs-fMRI).

Intra-cranial Electrophysiology - Microelectrode Recordings (MER), and Local Field Potentials (LFP)

Computational Techniques - Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning; and 4. Psychometric and Behavioral Assessments to achieve our mission.

Funding

Our research is primarily funded by Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre, Mumbai, India. However, we have also received research grants from multinational and external funding agencies.
