Principal Investigator
Prof. (Dr.) Paresh Doshi established the Advanced Neuromodulation Research Laboratory at Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre, Mumbai, a state-of-the-art research lab focused on multi-modal clinical neuromodulation. For the initial years, the lab’s focus was on advancing deep brain stimulation for movement disorders, while recently, the lab has also started working with non-invasive techniques such as TMS. His vision for establishing this group is to bring together a team of multidisciplinary experts passionate about neurological therapies and advance the field. His passion and vision for the field are evidenced by his dedication towards training young doctors, engineers, and scientists planning a career in the field of neuromodulation.
Clinical Fellow - Functional Neurosurgery | February 2025 onwards
Dr. Ameya is a neurosurgeon committed to restoring independence and quality of life. He believes in clear communication, thoughtful decision-making, and individualized treatment using state-of-the-art surgical techniques.
Junior Consultant and Research Fellow | From 2023 to 2025
Dr. Raj is a neurosurgeon with a particular interest in neuroinaging, image-guided interventions, and neuromodulation research. During my time at Jaslok Hospital under the mentorship of Dr. Paresh Doshi, I contributed to both clinical practice and multiple research initiatives in functional neurosurgery. My current academic pursuits focus on integrating advanced neuroimaging, tractography, and neuromodulation technologies into surgical decision-making.
Research Fellow - MBBS, April 2026 Onwards
My work in the lab focuses on DBS outcomes, microelectrode recording data analysis and tractography analysis. My career focus is on functional neurosurgery and the experience in this lab would be helpful in a physician scientist career. Prior to joining the lab, I completed my MBBS in 2024 and worked on multi-electrode electrophysiology research in freely behaving rodents at IISc Bangalore.
Research Fellow - AI Engineer, October 2024 onwards
His research focuses on developing AI-based methods to optimize DBS lead placement and stimulation parameters, aiming to enhance therapeutic outcomes for patients with Parkinson’s disease
Research Fellow - AI Engineer, October 2025 onwards
Ankit is developing computational models to predict freezing of gait (FoG) in Parkinson’s disease using clinical data. His research combines engineering and neuroscience to improve patient outcomes. Outside the lab, you’ll often find him playing cricket or reflecting on spirituality.
Research Fellow - Multi-modal Neuromodulation | From 2024 to 2025
Oshin works with diffusion weighted imaging to reconstruct white matter tracts and analyze structural connectivity. He is also involved in surgical planning, DBS programming, and our clinical trials with dTMS. Beyond the lab, he fancies traveling, public speaking, and theatre.
B. Tech - Boston Scientific Research Fellow | From 2024 to 2025
Currently pursuing MS in Biomedical Engineering (Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA)
Dr. Neha Rai - Clinical Fellow - Functional Neurosurgery | From 2022 to 2024
Dr. Rai did her graduation and post graduation in general surgery from GMC Patiala (Punjab), followed by that she did her superspeciality training in Neurosurgery at Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre, Mumbai, and completed in 2022. After completing, she worked as a clinical associate in the department of general and functional neurosurgery at Jaslok Hospital, Mumbai, for 2 years. Currently, she is working as a Consultant Neurosurgeon at Livasa Group of Hospitals in Punjab. It was a great experience to be with and learn from Dr. Doshi Sir. had a great opportunity to know about every aspect of functional neurosurgery, not just DBS but all other things which come in functional, various pathologies and their management through neuromodulation.
Dr. Sonali Vasnik, PhD - Boston Scientific Postdoctoral Fellow | From 2021 to 2024
Currently Postdoctoral Researcher (UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, TX, USA)
